1991 eclipse gs

it has a 1.8l engine. i wanna swap it but i dont know much about an eclipse, its my first import. what would a good engine swap be thatll fit?

Assuming parts and labour, it would save lots of time (possibly money) just to sell your 1.8l eclipse and buy the 2.0NT or Turbo. Unless of course you can do the work yourself, all you would need is engine(easiest would be a 4g63, otherwise your getting into serious custom stuff), mounts, plus other misc items. U can use your 1.8l gearbox if it's a 5 speed w/ a 2.0 engine, un less its a 2nd gen NT motor, it's different motor and everything is on oposite site. I've been using a gearbox from a 1.8 in my 2.0 for sometime now w/out problems, just RPM's bit higher at highway cruise speeds.

I'm not sure, but the 1.8 might have smaller brakes and diff suspension(not sure, someone tell me). If so, u'll need to upgrade brakes and suspension especially if you get the 4g63 turbo.

Generally, it's allot of work, and it would probably turn out cheaper or roughly even just to get an eclipse or talon w/ the 2.0(4g63)
