Re: Subs for a 1999

I have 2 10" MTX Thunder subs; there is no rattle in the trunk at all. The only rattle is the rearview mirror and the back license plate, my website has my cars audio setup if you want to check it out. For your car I would go with MTX or Blankput, both sound really good in a BU. What kind of budget and I could get better info.

Re: Subs for a 1999

I have two 12" Eclipse DVC subs 500W rms, in my trunk. I don't know if the 99 is built differently than my 2001, but the trunk of my car rattles like a bitch! Be prepared for that.

If you're concidering the Rockford subs, I say good choice. I would also recommend a Rockford amp for those subs. I strongly discourage you from getting an MTX amp. I have one, and it sucks. I'm even gonna replace my amp with a Rockford amp.

I currently have 2 10” Infinity Perfects with 1000watts running to each. They are in a sealed box mounted right behind my rear seat, facing forward. I also do not have any sound abatement, such as Dynomat, or a similar product, installed in my car at the moment. Everything inside shakes, vibrates, or squeaks without that sound abatement right now, so that will be my nest weekend project. The read deck will be my biggest concern, since that is where most of the vibration noise is coming from. Also, when the seats are up and latched secure, the latches squeak quit a bit. I will most likely do the entire trunk, the doors, the floor, and the roof. On the outside, the only thing that I have noticed that vibrates and makes noise is the rear license plate.

As far as what subs to get, it is strictly up to you. Size, price, manufacturer, power handling, air space needed, sound quality, frequency range, and other things will influence your purchase. All I can say is that make sure that you do some research into what subs you want before you buy. If you don't, you might be stuck with a pair, or more, of subs that you aren't happy with.

I agree on that, the MTX amps aren't that good. You might also want to post this question in the audio forum http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...play.php?f=675 because i know there are a lot of experts in there, they helped me with my setup.

Ok yeah its more of the box you have probabaly, the trunk will rattle a ton if your getting pretty loud bass. If you were outside my malibu when i was bumpin all you would hear is the trunk. I have 1 kicker solo l5 12' in a slotported box built to the specs of the sub. And im pushing 1200W rms into it. Its insaine bass for 1 sub. And double recommended power on the sub isn't too good for it but o well. I wouldnt bother with bestbuy if i were you. Go to a real car audio shop if you want a serious system for your car. But if your bro gets cheap amps then maybe that and a head unit would be the only things worth buyin @ bestbuy. DONT HAVE BESTBUY INSTALL A HEAD UNIT! they give you a retarded kit that makes your deck stick out like 2 inches. DO it yourself and dremel out the plastic support behind your headunit, and get a real dash kit.

Oh yea, dynamat xtreme cleans the rattlin up good, my trunk has no more rattles now + better sound quality

I have 2 15'' audiobahn Q series, and an audiobahn amp (i need a way bigger amp) But All i can say is DAMN!!! My trunk rattkles pretty bad, and so does my rear bumper. but the bass is so loud that it overshadows the vibrations, oh and my review mirror is practically permanantly facing down... so yeah, if you want some major slap, go all out and do that damn thing.

Rockford Fosgate

I have 2 10's in a custom box that is detachable. Those are fosgates. Then i have the amp that is attached to the backseat so i can put things in my trunk. They work pretty well. i've had them in my car for a year. Slight rattle, but not much.
