Window Switch HELP!

I have a 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix. On the driver window switch panel, the driver window will go down but will not come back up. It has been trying to go out for a couple of weeks now. It will go down fine...but when I tried to put it up I had to push down and back on the rocker switch part and it would go up slowly. Now the window will not go up at all. All the rest of the windows work fine.

Can anyone help please?

Sounds like a problem with window tract lubrication rather than the switch. Fairly common problem on our cars. Did it go up slowly before it finally stopped going up? Can you hear the motor trying to put the window up?

Most often you can simply remove the door panel, clean the window tract, and re-lube.

Re: Window Switch HELP!

It seems that it is the driver window part of the switch....it's not making contact. I had a friend look at it and he said I need to replace the entire switch. I called my local parts store and found it for 25.99. Thanks for the help.

Re: Window Switch HELP!

Had the same thing going on my 98. Pulled the switch. Put it back in, worked great. Happened again about 6 months later, pulled it apart, and it works great. Don't think it's the switch. But Cass is right, have to keep them lubed.
