Need to lower my car.
I've got the rims, I've got the tires...What do I need to lower my car? I've got stock everything right now. I'm not looking for anything special at the moment, just simply to lower my car about an inch. I'm low on cash and will eventually get a good suspension system, as for now, I need the bare minimum

bare minimum, you need lowering springs. That should cost around $100. It'll be kind of a harsh ride though, so if you have a little more cash, you would probably want to consider new struts. That's a little more costly though. Anywhere from $300-600?

Just for me to get this straight, tell me if I'm correct....struts=shocks and lowering springs= coilovers?

no you have coilovers, which are adjustable and you have the lowering springs which are non-adjustable. These are already set on a pre-determined height. i think that struts and shocks are the same.

No, struts are the shock absorber that's a part of the strut/spring combo found on double wishbone suspensions. Meaning you can't drive the car without the strut. A shock is the seperate part of other types of suspensions where the spring and shock are seperate. So you can remove the shock in this case and still be able to drive the car.
As for why you need to lower your car? You don't but lowering springs and struts help lower your cars center of gravity, help keep the full grip of your tires on the road and reduce bodyroll while turning. And it looks pretty cool too.

just do the ghetto 60's hotrodder method and torch your springs.
sike just wait and save and get it all done at once. you'll thank yourself in the long run unless your a glutten for punishment. |

you probably wouldnt need a camber kit if your only gonna drop it an inch. as for the springs youd probably want to spend more than 100 bucks, cause you pretty much get what you pay for.

he wont need a camber kit if he's only lowered 1 inch. Anything about 1.8" or 2"..he will need a camber kit.

If I just bought new coilovers, would the stock springs still be involved in the suspension? Basic question is what else do I need with the coilovers?
