Bye Bye Lamborghini

Well, after producing a slug that couldn't keep up with the Carsport America Viper, let alone the factory Corvettes and Saleens, Lamborghini has demanded that Krohn/Barbour racing cease all ALMS competition with the factory Murciealago R-GT's.

Although oftentimes slower than the GT class cars, the Murciealagos were some of the most popular cars on the grid and were a great addition to the GTS field. It is sad that Lamborghini is pulling the team after only 3 races.

Oh well, guess the tractor maker just can't compete - like I've been saying for years.

Re: Bye Bye Lamborghini

Bummer. Here's a link to the press release

http://www.krohn-barbourracing.com/n...dex.php?sid=37

They never really got the development that they needed, though the car was fast at times.

That press release sounded more like krohn/barbour was releasing lamborghini as opposed to the other way around. Is Lambo givinig up or is this particular partnership just dead? It sounds like they did pretty well at road atlanta running in 3rd at a point before an oil induced spin. The other lambo finished the race but was not as quick as the one that crashed. If you can finish petit le mans then you can finish in france.

I was just explaining to a friend how great the 2005 24 hours was going to be because of all the GTS competition. It would really suck if Lambo backed out. I never even got to see them race. I would think they would have a serious chance due to all the new and untested entries. Lambo would be a veritable veteran compared to most of the entries. From what i have heard the C-6 is having troubles. Even with prodrive management i seriously doubt that aston martin will be a reliable competitor. The only tried and true cars at that point will be the Saleen and the Ferrari, and the Lambo was competeing with them at road atlanta. Even they should know that 3 races isn't enough to get a race winner. Even the C5-R took a full season to work out all the kinks and that was with GM's deep pockets.

Dang that sucks, just when the GTS field was looking amazing. Can't wait to see what prodrive comes up with as far as the db9 goes.

I fig that sombody would have put the Ford GT into racing by now. My vote is the C6R again.
