200 Jetta:How to turn off check engine light
Can someone tell me if I need a gadget to do this or is there some other way, besides visiting your local dealer who charges $70 to plug-in his computer. On my Honda, I can disconnect/connect the battery to make it go away. If it comes back, I know I have a problem other than dirty gas. Thanks.

engine light turn off
we had some problems with our jetta. we took it to Autozone and they will use their hand held computer to check it out for free only if you have your engine light on. they can diagnose it for you there. usually the engine light goes right out after they have checked it with the computer.

lol if you get a cel then why ignore it?? obviously the cel is on for a reason. thats... pretty stupid. go to someone who has a vag-com (vwvortex.com) and they'll do the rest.
