OXON HILL, Md. (AP) - School officials in a Washington, D.C., suburb have a lot of questions about a phony test given to some high school students.
Prince George's County school officials are apologizing to parents for the test that included questions about drugs, crime and weapons.

Officials say a tenth-grade geometry teacher at Oxon Hill High School administered what is being called a "fake math proficiency test." It contained math word problems beginning with phrases like "Jose has two ounces of cocaine," "Willie gets $200 for a stolen BMW," and "Raul gets six years for murder."

One parent says she's appalled.

The school board says it will take what it calls "appropriate administrative action" and apologize to parents in writing.

IMO...i find it funny... teacher putting real world activities in the math class

yeah i had a teacher do stuff like that..it was hilarious...i hate it when one person complains and everyone has to suffer..i was principals would grow some balls and tell the parents to get over it

These kinds of stories pop up more and more often nowadays. Anyhow, some parents need to lighten up.

I took geometry in 8th grade, buncha slow freaks...

When we had to write up our own word problems in Calc and such, we'd write up stuff that sounded like that. We got credit for it...

Haha reminds me of my mechanics teacher, First theory class was the basic shop safety followed by a quick lesson on how to properly roll a joint first shop class was how to hot wire an ignition. Ahh the joys of high school

haha, yeah i remember doin that stuff for word problems. Some teachers didnt like it but other just laughed cause we were havin fun with it.
