it has a 8 cyl 5.7 liters engine

it has a distributor. I don't know how to find the 1 position. if i knew where it is I might be able to place the other wires in their proper position.

Take off the cap. Remove the spark plug on the #1 cylinder, (the first cylinder on the drivers side)
Put a big socket and wrench on the crankshaft pully and rotate the engine clockwise until you hear air escaping out the spark plug hole, because the #1 piston is rising on the compression stroke. When the piston gets to the top, then the distributor rotor will be pointing to where the #1 position plug wire goes.

Re: Distributor Cap Wiring

Easier than listening for slow moving air is place a ballon over an "anti fouler". any parts store will have one.(It is a spacer that goes between the spark plug and the engine). The proper stroke will start to inflate the balloon. Good Luck.
