Re: Need help restoring my 81 MC

I cleaned an 81 up to sell a few months ago. The weatherstriping for the windows was shot and the cost for the weatherstrpiing alone was $100.00 for each door. I bought garage door bottom seal in a 50 foot roll for $8.00 and did both doors. You need to do some trimming to it and then glue and screw.

I have been restoring a 81 Monte carlo too, pretty much the same, painting, vinyl top and seals.

Be careful with the vinyl section of the roof, it needs a special polyurethane paint, and I recommend you to NOT get the vinyl off (or change it), the metal under the vinyl may be weak.
Also take care for rust on the inside top the trunk (near where the rear speakers are), because of the vinyl top, this part of the car gets wet easily.

If you need parts I recommend you to look in http://www.rockauto.com/
(They will ship to any country, I live in Chile, south america and when I bought two sensors for the carburetor, in 5 days they were in my house)

Some day I will put more details on restoring the MC on my web page:
