Keyless Programming - Damn Horn

I recently purchased a 2003 Altima 3.5 SE.

The dealer tried to sell it without the keyless remotes; but finally popped for a couple new ones. Being Sunday, Service was closed and no one else there new how to program the remoted.

When I got home, I did an Internet search which led me to this forum and instructions on programming. I sucessfully programmed remotes.... thank you.

The remaining problem is that it honks when unlocking or locking the car.... even with the key. I really hate the honking.

My manual, on 3-7, describes the process to silence the horn. I have tried as described.... pressing the lock and unlock buttons for a few seconds untill the hazard lights flash three times. Unfortunately, it has no effect on the horn.

I also attempted an alarm reset as described in another post followed by reprogramming the remotes again, and trying to silence the horn. No dice.

What's next?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

The story ends with a twist.

My car has an "upgraded alarm system" which is evidenced by a small red led light (contol button) on the lower dash near the fuse box. In the fuse box there are a number of obviously non-stock wires that go to shock sensors and provide light flashing.

The answer was to turn the ignition ON-OFF-ON and press the led three times to silence the horn.

Has anyone heard of this?

Re: Keyless Programming - Damn Horn

thanks for the offer; but I have the programming instructions for the standard remotes.... I found them posted in the Nissan forums here.

What I haven't seen/found is information about the "upgraded alarm system" which like having a second system layered in.

I tried the web site you listed...

www.controlesdelalarmas.com

It doesn't open.
