People.....All the best for the new year et al.....
Which plugs are the best for the SR20 (in your opinions)? I really just want a smoother combustion, and for street racing applications. I found a few reviews over the Net, but nothing too specific. Please help!

I wanted NGK plugs for my car, but the damn things wouldn’t fit!

Those NGK plugs.....could you give me any details? Are they 2-point? 4-point? Platinum with iridium? A pdt # would be great!
How about the BOSCH plugs? Are they comparable? Also, have you guys changed out your distributor wires? If so, what brand wires are best matched with what brand plugs?

The best plug wires are OEM. Seriously. Unless you are putting down over 350 hp, don't even consider anything else. I'm serious.

Keep the stock wires and distributor as well. The stock setup is MORE than enough to handle 200+ HP. People have had ignition problems by putting aftermarket wires and soforth in, and they have replaced it back with 100k mile stock ignition setup and the problems have gone away. Stick with OEM.

NGKs are very good, I used to have them. I have denso iridiums in there now and I must say they are even better than the NGK's. They are a little pricy, about $12 a piece. Greddy just came out with a new iridium plug for the SR20, they run about $26 a piece.

What is the part # for NGK iridiums? I know stock NGKs are PFR5b-11.

I second that about the Bosch plugs. Brandnew +4 plugs dynoed four fewer horsepower back-to-back on the dyno compared to stock NGK plats.
Stick with OEM. I also experimented with Bosch plats, and I had a ragged idle until I swapped them back out again. |

I use NGK coppers. Less than $2 each, and replace them every 10,000 miles. Platinum plugs are for cars where it's a bitch to change them that often.
![]() Bosch do suck.
