Trading in my '02 spec V

Hey guys, I just wanted your opinion on this. I'm thinking about trading in my '02 Spec V for an '04 Spec V. The main reason is that the '04 Spec V has better wheel HP and wheel torque and seems to have a more reliable engine. I have 18,000 miles on my car and I still owe about $10,000 in payments. Would I come out winning or losing if I traded it in? Thanks.

I know it's the same QR25 engine but the '02 spec V on the dyno posted 141HP and 150TRQ. The new Spec V posted 150HP and 160TRQ. That's a huge difference.

Unless both cars were tested on the same dyno and on the same day and under the same conditions, those numbers are pretty much meaningless. You can gain 5whp just going from one dyno to the other.

I'd just keep your 02. You going to get hooped on either the new car price or your trade-in value. Car dealerships are around to make money. Not to give great deals on new cars or overpay for used ones.

Re: Trading in my '02 spec V

Keep the 02, I am purposely looking only for an 02-03 SE-R because in 04 they changed the face to that stupid plastic rectangle design in the middle of the grille like on the the Maxima. I drove a black 05 Spec V today and I told the salesman I don't want it just because of the new grille, I said "call me if you get a good looking one in" Why the fuck did NISSAN change that??????????????

Re: Trading in my '02 spec V

I agree, the '02-'03 Spec V looks a lot sportier. I don't know why the got rid of the front spoiler on the '04-'05. I know my Spec V looks nicer than the new ones, I just wanted to make sure the engine was just as good as the new ones.
