Muffler

What is the best type of muffler to put on my truck..89 S-10 4.3 TBI 4x4, and I also want it to sound deep and throaty, could I put a flomaster 40 series on it and have it sound decent. All the exhaust is factory, or well factory specs, some of it is newer pipes, but i could change that somewhat easily

Thanks

Re: Muffler

Get a Ravin Z33 from Midas.

Mine sounds absolutely amazing.

Re: Muffler

so BlazerLT would u recommend changing the muffler or the whole exhaust on my s10 for a little more power?? My buddy that owns a performance shops says he will do a full customer exhaust for like 300 it was.. but would it be worth it?

Re: Muffler

Nope, 2.25" exhaust piping you have is perfectly adequate for your engine.

No need for more. Just pop in a good aftermarket muffler, maybe even a high flow cat convertor and you will have enough flow for even a V8.

Re: Muffler

Does the Raven Z33 have that deeper throaty sound that I would want? OH and how much does that muffler cost?

Re: Muffler

Well, I have the Z55 which sounds nice but is not as loud as the Z33.

If you don't want it to be too loud, I suggest the Z55. Still very deep and sounds much better than the raspy Flow 40s.

Go to you local Midas dealer and ask them for the price in your area.

Re: Muffler

If you want more power droping in a race system (eliminating the cat converter) always helps, although it's illegal in most places (not really where I live though). Keep the old system if you do this.
