Help!! hot/cool dash control problem

The hot/cool switch on the picture above is what I'm talking about... This is a 95 prelude, I can pull from left to right about 1/3rd of the way but if I pull it more to the right it shoots right back to the left... When I hold it all the way to the right where it's suppose to blow hot air it's still blowing cold air...

I think it's blowing cold air because maybe the clip or something in the back still thinks it's 1/3rd way but my problem is how do i fix this without it shooting back to the left and work normally ?Has anyone ever had a problem like this ?

Thx so much in advance

Re: Help!! hot/cool dash control problem

I actually had a similair problem in one of my other cars, but usually if i kind of played with the switch right around the area it started to hang up, it'd eventually go over and work fine. That's all the advice i can give you, i guess it's worth a shot.

I kind of have the same problem, I have a 92, but it's the same AC unit, although mine won't go cold... Which really sucks, because i live in florida, I have the cover off now because i'm painting it, i'm going to check out the switch, tell me if you figure it out.

You have to pull the unit out (screws everywhere start looking) underneath the cable runs from the unit to the heating unit...if its kinked or the clip that hold it in places is messed up, this will happen...happened to me...easy to fix, just takes time to remove and put back together...

Re: Help!! hot/cool dash control problem

Evilmysts, There is a cable that connects to the heater valve lever, right side of the console, right at the fire wall. It connects thru a hole with a plastic lock, I've had mine off before, and it isn't that difficult. It's either the cable or heater valve. Disconnect the cable to find which ones the problem.

yep, i have the same problem, and i still havent fixed it, where the cable connects and go thru the firewall, i ahve to manually move it because it is very hard to move, so the cable that moves it, just bends and slips off it, it sucks, i used wd40 on the other side of the firewall behind the engine but it still doesnt slide that well, kinda a pain in the ass, i guess im gonna have to replace that valve, i dunno?
