Smoother Ride

I have a totally stock suspension. What could i do to smooth out my ride? (other than getting better tires and using a softer psi) I heard about aftermarket shocks, etc, but i'm clueless as far as suspension goes. Handling doesn't really concern me, since i'm not going to race the thing, just want a ride that doesn't jolt everytime u hit a bump in the road

Re: Smoother Ride

get kyb gr2's. i hear they soften the ride in rough places, and they arent expensive either.

Re: Smoother Ride

yummy i'll look it up. I could live with the stock suspension, but i think something a little nicer will make for a better ride

K, found a site that sells em:

http://www.prostreetonline.com/buy/k..._shocks/honda/

However, you can see that they have 2 sets for 1990. They have one that says 89-91 and one that says 90-97. I'm guessing go with the 89-91? And how much would a shop charge to put em on? Or is it easy enough to do yourself (if ur a newbie like me, lol)

shocks

all you really have to do is jack each wheel up ,take off the springs/shocks...3 bolts under the hood & I think 1 or 2 bolts behind the wheel, its not hard at all to take one off,but you may need a breaker bar for the bottom bolts, same goes for every wheel,
then take it to your nearest shop that would change them for you,its like 8 bucks a spring to change,so it shouldnt be too much,
evans big O tires, maybe wal-mart,any shop that oil changes/tune ups../mufflers.....just call around, you'll find one cheap,
but it is recommended that you probably wanna take the shocks/springs off yourself, because they'll probly charge alot, then say somthings broke & you need to replace it & take all your money,
try to see if you can get somone to help you,
good lucc

Re: Smoother Ride

Some places will loan out a spring compressor, which you will need to get your stock springs out. It's not hard, it only took me an hour when I put my coil-overs on. Pretty much same process as changing the shock itself.

Re: Smoother Ride

you dont have to have a spring compressor, it just makes things safer. Its a simple bolt on nothing to it job, should take around 2 hours.

Re: Smoother Ride

also check all your bushings, if there dry wrotted then that would contribute to a ruff ride.
