IWC: Chatroom

i think that would be rally coolf if AF forums had an IRC chatroom or something like that. If their is already one and somehow i have managed not to see, please delete this thread. But a chatroom would be sweet.

Re: IWC: Chatroom

I said "yes" as a direct response to your question. "Yes I would use an AF.com chatroom." Now there's a second part thought, "Is one needed?" IMO "No, because this is already an online forum, where we already talk freely, a chatroom would harder for the mods to manage as they wouldn't be able to delete posts or prevent flaming. It would also put more load on the server, because it would be similar to streaming video, everyone would be linked in to one central spot that has to be constantly refreshing and keeping everyone 'up-to-the-second'." Good idea though, just too hard to administer and support, IMO.

My thoughts in a nutshell. If you want an online chat, join one. This is a webforum, not a chatroom.

Re: IWC: Chatroom

you can moderate it, if someone starts flamming give em a warning, mute them, or ban them just as if it was the forum. Its not that hard, and if you give enough people admin abilities it wouldnt be a problem of moderating. I know this is a webforum, but this is a really big web forum with tons of people with lots of questions and answers. I think with this big of a collective knowledge it would be really fun to talk to the people on here in real time and not have to wait for a response from them. Hell if you guys endorse the servers i would rent an IRC chatroom.

Re: IWC: Chatroom

If you want to talk to people in 'real time' use AIM or some other instant messenger, like a lot of us do.

AF doesn't need a chat room.
