'96 maxima front brake squeal- help!!!

My wife's 96 max has a front break squeal that is driving her (then me) crazy! It is only squealing under medium braking pressure, and is definately coming from the front (I've spent many hours with my head out the window listening). The car started sqealing after I changed the pads with some cheap-o brakes. Thinking this was my only mistake, I then put on a set of Brembo smooth rotors and Brembo ceramic pads. This worked for a week or two- since then I have tried the high pressure sprayer, sanded the rotors and filed down the pads, put the rubber backing strips on the pads, greased the carriers, and checked to make sure all the fasteners are tight.....whew... and the pads are all wearing even, so I don't think the pistons are sticking. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I told her to just jam the brakes on hard and they won't squeal, but that didn't go over to well.

thanks- Ian

100% Sure it's the front? After swapping rotors and pads with different ones and still having the problem I'd be inclined to say it's the rear.

Yeah, pretty sure. Every time I try a repair on the front the squeal will go away for a couple days, then comes back. Does anybody make a real soft brake pad? - I was wondering if soft pads would be less likely to squeal, just have to change them more often....

The problem with soft pads is dusting, a real mess. Does your wife ride the brakes?

No she doesn't. Plus it really only squeals under normal pressure- jamming on the brakes or just a light pressure doesn't make any noise.....?

Just as a check I'd break the glaze off the rear ones too.
