MKIII Wheel Size
Assuming adjustable ride height via TEIN coilovers, what is the best size wheels to use in the front and back?
I like the idea of offset sizes rear/front. 19x11 rear and 17x7.5 front sounds fun but what really fits under the back, and how well does an offset work when it comes to handling. If you have adjustable ride height you can compensate right? Is it dumb to have such fat on the back? |

The widest rears I've heard of with some problems/rubbing and with some rolling of the fender lip are 315's. If it was me I would stay away from 19's, the ride with 18's and a close-to-stock overall tire size starts to get rough IMO. Try to keep the rim sizes within an inch, say 17 in front and 18 in back if your going for that subtle "muscle car" look. It's not dumb at all to have all that meat in the back if you have the HP to back it up, remember Toyota settled on a 9.5" stock rear for the TT MKIV to hold it's power.

Re: MKIII Wheel Size
Cool. Right now im riding on 18x7.5 icw racing wheels all the way around but I know those rears will not hold up, and they are not a dished wheel. So I know before I can stomp it from a stop I will have to get wider rear wheels.
So how does 18x10 rear 17x7 front sound? or should i stick with a 17x7.5 in front? |
