Need help . . . rear brake cylinder

When replacing the rear brake shoes on a 1999 grand am with abs, how do you get the wheel cylinder to retract so the new shoes will fit? I' was told this can be done without disconnecting the brake line?? There are no leaks so I'm not replacing the wheel cylinder.

Thanks in advance for any help!!
