Automatic Headlight Sensor Question
I have a 1999 GMC Sierra SLE, and it has the autiomatic headlight sensor. Is there a way to disable this sensor. It is in the dash right in the center, beneath the Rear View Mirror. It is a Light sensor that turns the on Headlights, not the DTR's. I would like to be able to operate the headlights like normal. Any ideas?

You could try this: http://www.fullsizechevy.com/forums/...ad.php?t=12492

"The resistor wont disable the DRL's (as asked in your theread title) but what it does is get rid of the auto headlamps (basically fooling the BCM into thinking its always daylight), returning all headlight operations to the dash switch. The DRLs still function as normal (ie they'll come on anytime the truck is put into gear and the pkg brake not engaged). I found that a 1k ohm resistor supplies the "expected" voltage to maintain this daylight condition. I heard that somebody just jumpered out the light sensor but I was concered that the BCM would think the sensor failed and throw up a code. I didnt experiment with a simple jumper to see what would happen - but you could give it shot."
So I guess I will have to pull out the fuse guide and look for that specific Relay, and then replace it with a 1K Ohm resistor? |

Re: Automatic Headlight Sensor Question
There is another thread on this site in the Chevy Silverado board. I think you can put the resister in place of the sensor at the connector

Re: Automatic Headlight Sensor Question
Not to be lazy, but where is this connector, and where is a good place to get a 1K Ohm resister?

I have a resitor kit (not just the bootleg way of having bare electronics hanging under you dash, but a plug in piece) along with instructions for install I sell for $10 plus shipping. Works awesome. B3enterprise@gmail for more info.
