bmw 635csi

hi
I'm getting ready to start building the tamiya bmw 635csi. I havent seen any built here and i was wondering of any tips on building the kit? Also i heard something has to be removed to make the decals on the side to fit correctly but i cant remember what it was.
thanks

Re: bmw 635csi

i am going with one recently, leaving the clear coat and polish...
as for myself, the decals on the sides are a bit hard to apply, as they are spitted into 3 pieces. what i did is to start from the head of the car and then move slowly to the backend. but unfortunately, my first clear coat is too thick~ messing up all the decals around the body. so, another advice is to have the first few layers of clear coat as thin as poosisible. the decals are surely not as strong as those for cf decals

another thing is to drilling of the back door. you have got to put much patient to give a perfect round hold. i am alos not satisfied with what i did...>.<

but i hope you can built it nice~
good luck

Don't know about the Tamiya kit unfortunately. I have the Fujimi one and it looks like a corker, great detail and livery.

Re: bmw 635csi

You need to sand of the moulding on both sides that resembles the rubberparts (don't know what they're called in english?) that protects them from damages. Sometime in the ancient history I built this car using nothing but brushes and no decal softner, managed to missalign the decals on one side and put it away. Found it again just the other week, looks to damn horrible. So it went back in the box again. Take your time with the decals so you get them on properly and aligned.

Re: bmw 635csi

yes, right~

most of the pic i have gathered did not have the "rubber band"
but i am just not confident to file it out~
but i am sure if it is managed to be cleared, the decals will be much more easier to apply~

thanks~

Re: bmw 635csi

Yupp, it's the one I have in the pit. Not as nice scheme as Original-Teile, but BMW was first and it's a nice car with great detail. Don't know about the Fujimi item, just saw it in the box and it sure looks like a great kit with awesome detail.

Re: bmw 635csi

the fujimi's em kit is exceptionally great. i preceive it as a serise which is much better than any of the tamiya's kits(even the enzo ferrari)~
but i got the aplina b7 kit only, and i think it is more or less as the 635 csi version. this fujimi kit is excellent~!
