Re: 205 Mph Ticket

hmm... didn't know they actually meant it when they said patrolled by aircraft...

I guess you'd have to be speeding by quite a bit to get caught. You could also just get off the highway as soon as you were done speeding...

Re: 205 Mph Ticket

hmm kinda amusing, imagine the wind at that speed!
i wouldnt have thought the bike could go that sort of speed, without reasonable modification.

Re: 205 Mph Ticket

caution: im drunk so my opinion may not be all that PC....

1: if he DID clock that speed, well done to such a young fella being able with limited experience to control (or atleast hang on) to the bike at that kind of speed..

2: If he didnt.. well thats a shitty job by the police, not that i imagine the task of detecting these speeds without a precise piece of electronic equipment to do so would be easy...

3: well.... his certaintly got more balls (or less brains) than i EVER will... i know a guy that was brought back to life at an accident doing 60 KMH...

my worthless, crappy 2 cents

I doubt his RC51 could reach those speeds without serious alternations to the engine and bodywork. Busa and ZX-12R, how about MotoGP speeds? Most of the MotoGP bikes are lighter than 600cc production bikes but their 990cc engines push out more than 240+ horses this year. Which emphasizes how much I doubt this kid could go that fast on the bike.

Re: 205 Mph Ticket

We've discussed this on another forum of mine, and we have decided the eye in the sky must not have been very accurate in timing him.

^ ^ yah, sbw.sportbikes.com. The guy was probably going 170-180mph, not 205. And usually cops are morons when calculating speed from moving vehicle.

Re: 205 Mph Ticket

Agreed Saturn & Z-Fan.. When they said he was on a Honda motorcycle I immediatly thought of the RC51.. However without at least a turbo mod/upgrade that bike tops out at around 165mph give or take.. Even if geared right it would take some doing at 205mph.. They said the officer couldn't keep up with him in his aircraft (plane or chopper, I don't know) so he used his stop watch and timed him between mile markers.. Probably flunked math though.. Oh BTW, On the topic of cops and the law... I have a question for you guys...
I just got done riding some twisties (about 5 minutes ago) and on my way down the hill two cops on bikes were coming up and went by me.. Well about 1/2 mile behind them came a couple more bikes (speeding up the hill). They signaled to me (waved) and I tapped the top of my helmet with me left hand signaling that there were cops up ahead.. Now is this the correct procedure as to warn others of police or do you guys have another (more common) way.
Thanks guys..

what a country America is. you guys have proven pigs CAN fly. oh its a proud, proud day.

our fastest recorded fine is 285km/hr ( 177mph) through the sydney harbour tunnel by a digital speed camera by an R1 in 2002. the guy thought he could go fast enough to "outrun" the shutter speed

Re: 205 Mph Ticket

speed cameras are set up to get the back licence plate... the sensor detects as they go past, camera gets them just as there are past

interesting story:
in OZ, speed cam's are operated by private companys.. any way a couple kids managed to sneak up behind a camera car and remove the numberplate while one mate distracted the guy behind the wheel for a quick chat... then they installed the plate onto their own car and drove past this one camera car (i forget how many times, but repeatedly) over the speed limit.. quite amusing i thought, give it a shot over in the states!
