engine power loss - intermittent hesitation

I have an S-10, 1997 vintage with Jacob's Pro-street ignition, K&N Filter Charger with cold dam, Gibson performance exhaust, and Hypertech reprogramming.

Lately, when my wife has been using the truck (of course it never does it when I am in the truck), she claims that she has experienced a loss of power. The engine does not quit, but it seems like it is starving for fuel, and has backfired at least once. Once it does this, it seems to be ok for a while.

I don't believe it is ignition related, but I am not ruling that out until I get it to do this for me. Has anyone else had the same problem? It is the 4.3 liter engine and runs like a raped ape, usually, but lately it is a sick puppy.

Please help me out here if you can...

I had something like this happen to me.I bought a scanner and it told me "cam sensor malfunction".I bought a cam sensor and the problem was fixed.The truck would run fine till it got to temp then it would hesitate for a few seconds and then come back to life.

New plugs

Also, I hope you didn't overoil your cold air intake filter because if you did it tends to screw up the MAF sensor and cover the sensor filaments with oil causing them to take improper readings.

By scanner, you mean something that will read the computer codes?? Where can I get these and how much are they? I have been thinking of buying one anyway...

No, the only oil on the filter is what it came with. I did these mods within the past year, since it is a relatively low mileage truck (52K) and it has been running fine until just lately.

Yes a scanner reads codes.I got one at Advance Auto Parts for 115.00.Thats pretty cheap compared to poke and hope method.
