Question Do CA and MA share info re: violations?

Resident of California. Got a speeding ticket in Massachusetts - going 51 in a 30mph zone.

Anyone know if MA will contact my home state? What about my insurance company?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Do CA and MA share info re: violations?

Driving records are "shared" between state DMVs. My guess is that the violation will be in MA's records, and CA will have access to it,

Actually, every two states have a particular and unique arrangement regarding how much info they share. Also, each state has a different policy regarding whether or not tickets from another state count towards your record - and, if so, how much.

What I need to know is the specific arrangement between the two - which is proving elusive to track down.

Thanks, though!

Re: Do CA and MA share info re: violations?

Call the DMV and ask if they have resiprosity or whatever the term is with MA, chances are they don't which means you probably wont get any points on your license(I assume CA has a point system) however, since it is a moving violation, I would think your insurance will find out, but again, I'm not positive...your best bet would simply be to call and ask...I mean they can't penalize you for asking.

There is a new computer system funded by the Feds a while back that now all DMV info is shared by all states. Your DMV will find out, and so will your insurance company.
