This one hose....
Well...while i was checking my oil today on my truck (89 S-10 with the 4.3TBI) I noticed this thin metal coil hose that was undone from where the air goes into the aircleaner...so i pushed it back on the barb...and i thought to myself...what the heck is this here for?...sooo i traced it back...about 8 inches later i noticed it stoped....and is hanging loose (well sitting) on the left bank valve cover....soooo...i started looking around ... and i have nooo clue where the heck it goes...and my truck runs just as good as it has always ran while it has been in my posession...so i can't figure out what the heck it is for....any help here would be great..since i am kinda puzzled...and it is harvest time so my dad is pretty busy so i am not gonna ask him to help me
Thanks |

Re: This one hose....
Sounds like the air preheater tube for when the engine is cold. As you mentioned, one end is on the air cleaner and the other end should fit onto a fitting on a shroud that is around the exhaust manifold. The car will run fine without it, however, if it is really cold, it is there for a reason.

Re: This one hose....
Ok...Thanks...I was curious because it seemed like the hose was constucted to withstand high temperatures
