Eclipse GSX, GREATEST CAR EVER !

Well, this saturday proved to me that I didn't make a mistake in buying my GSX! Originaly, I was trying to decide between an 1998 LS1 Trans Am, 1998 Camero SS, 1998 Mitsu GSX. All used. And I decided to pick the slower gsx becasue of the cheap potentail and all wheel drive. Well, about 3 months later, I started to have slight doubts about my choice and I was wondering if maybe I should have bought one of the other 2. Now I got an ACT 2600 clutch, apexi N1 3" exhaust and downpipe and a greddy Type s bov. Still seemed just ok to me(speedwise), until on saturday.

Well me and my Girl got into a fight at like 3 am so I left and went down to the ontario street races to blow off some steam. When I get there, I park off on the side and just watch the races looking for something that I might wanna race. Then I get out and go talk to a guy in a blue SRT4. I talked to him about how he liked his car when a silver srt4 pulled up to the starting line against an old chevelle on slicks. The chevelle heated up his tires and took the srt4 about 1 car on launch and kept its hold till about mid 2, then the srt creeped on him and eventually took him by 1-1 1/2 cars. I was like holy shit because the top end on that srt was killer. The guy in the Blue srt4 told me that those car are hard to launch and he was braggin about how good the silver one hooked up. Then, I decided to flirt with death, I wanted to race that Silver srt 4.

I pulled up next to him when he jumped back in line, and I asked him what did he have in his car. He told me that all he have was an ApexiN1 exhaust kit and he revved it up. Needless to say, at thistime I was scared shittless of his car. I've heard on this site some 2g eclipses with exhaust, downpipe and bov, can run low 14's high 13's (like 13.8's-9's) and damnit, Those cars run that stock so I needed to pull one of those 13's out of my ass to maybe win. But, I also have 2 12' kicker subs and my spare still so I considered myself done.

Just when I though that I was doomed, Someone elsee pulled up on the other side of the srt4 and wanted to do a 3 way. A TransAm. luckly, it was an LT1 instead of the monster LS1 but still was a V8 drag machine. Well, me and the Srt said ok and we pulled up the the starting line. We all started revving and getting ready for the launch, I bounch my revs between 5500 and 6000 and waited for the go. Then the flagger dropped his arms...........

Bam, I jump on both car hard, like 3-3 1/2 cars (I've been practicing that launch so much and I even beat a few evo's all because of the launch) And I kept pulling until my shirt to 3rd, about the middle of third gear, the SRT4, started comming up hella fast and I was getting worried. We only run to bottom of 4th so I was fighting to keep that lead. By my shift to 4th gear, the SRT 4 had closes the gap from about 3 1/2 cars, to 1 but, the race was over, I flash and the GSX wins. I pull over to talk to the srt4 but he turns around before he got to me. The trans am pulls up and was like, What the hell you got in there????? I told him AWD, Stock Turbo, Exhaust kit. And he was shocked. I never even saw him throughout the whole race. Damn I felt so good.

Needless to say, after that race, My friends gave me props and Everyone else felt they had somthing to prove and started challenging me to race them but I didn't want to race anymore, I just came there to blow off some steam, and I did........... ALL OVER A SRT4 AND A LT1 TRANSAM

Nice kill but the SRT-4 sucks its got no chance with a gs-t or gsx if they both had the same mods

Actually the srt-4 is a quick little SOB. I raced a bone stock srt-4 when I was bone stock too (except for an intake hardpipe w/ k&n), and I had him by 2-3 cars through 1st and 2nd gear, but halfway through 3rd he pulled HARD and just kept pulling. Those cars have a top-end that just doesn't stop! I think they run ~14.2 in the 1/4 stock and put down ~225whp.

be careful with srt4s they can be quicker than what they already are. people juss dont want to mod cuz of how new they are. but hey we can always call kevin to take em. lol

Right off the bat i'll say that i have NOTHING agaisnt GSX's or any RESPECTABLE Import. Cuz i was driving a 93 Mazda MX6-STOCK for a while and it was a perfect daily driver.

Anyways, for people like me who own a Camaro/Ta, Its really hard to give you credit for everything that you say. I'm not questioning whether you won or lost, cuz obviously you won but im questioning the fact that you think its the "BEST CAR EVER" and your knowledge.
First of all, you spelled CAMARO wrong and why would u point out the LS1 in "1998 LS1 TRANS AM" and not do the same for the SS? Everyone knows that 98+ Z28/SS and TA's have the LS1 so whats up?
Having an LT1 doesnt make it that horribly damn slow compared to a LS1. Stock to Stock its not that far off. When u start modding the LS1, obviously its a hella lot better. Was the TA u ran stock? Cuz i'll line up againsnt you anyday in my LT1 w/ 110k and all i have done is Exhaust, cold air and suspension. I've ran 13.2 consistenly at a bad-preped track. If you want to wait till u do what u have planned with the GSX, then i'll wait till my completely new forged 383 stroker motor built to handle n20, with Ported heads flowing .270 at .600 and my cam and stage 4 AUTO tranny with a 3200+ Stall are all installed.

And if u read what i've said, i never mentioned that my car was the best ever, cause its defiently NOT. But nothing beats cruising around with the T-tops down and everyone turns their head as u drive by while u BARELY are touching the gas pedal. Ask my friend who owns an Eclipse, hes a member here, he ALWAYS wants to go for a ride in the Z. I just love it tho when some people in imports have to fly down the street to get noticed (blow off valve and all) and have to floor it, while i dont have to do anything but barely hit the gas.

So i wouldnt agrue that the 98 TA or the 98 SS were better purchases beacuse it all depends on what you want out of the car. They are horrible daily drivers and eat so much PREMIUM gas. But if you are basing the "the best car ever" on speed and being faster, (me personally) i'd have to disagree.

On a side note, why do people who use to own imports, (when the switch to domestic) choose to go to a mustang? I dont get it and i was just wondering? I will give you credit for switching from that Mustang, espc since it was a 6'er to the GSX. Oh haha funny-true story. This kid when i was in HS and went to my HS had a silver GSX and i remember him going underneath my car behind my exhaust and look at it and say, wow u have 400 or something HP? He said that cuz the way the exhaust looked haha.

So congrats on your purchase cuz honestly i think its a good car and its very reliable!

people have different tastes leave it at that. we dont want an import and domestic fight.
