Alternator Help!!!!!

Okay i just bought a alternator off ebay and it should be here within a couple of days. So i need to take my old one off of my 87 Crx. The damn car died on the freeway at 11 at night so i was driving blinded on the freeway in the dark and i was pissed. So any help on taking it out the alternator and puting one back in would be a big help.

Re: Alternator Help!!!!!

Okay, the first thing you are going to want to do, is get a good jack, and maybe a jackstand or two. Jack up the car, and secure it with a jack or jackstand. You'll need to take off the driver's side tire. You should be able to see the alternator from there, and there are two bolts that secure it to the motor, and two wires coming off of it. Make sure you disconnect the negative terminal on your battery, otherwise you could have some serious archage... Other than that, it's pretty straightforward. Just make sure to loosen the bolt not attatched to the bracket first, so it will allow the alternator to move once you loosen the other bolt to remove the belt from it.
