Post Poll: s14 sr20det or rb25det

I'm trying to figure out which motor i want to put in my 1995 240sx SE. Figuring all the work that would go into each motor the cost and the results. So tell me which one you would do. Answer number 1 for the s14. and number 2 for the rb25. thankx

there are two different swaps you should do, since it sounds like you know your stuff about cars

1) RB26DETT with dual T-88's and AWD

2) B16 with DC headers

go with #2 if you want to make power

Re: Poll: s14 sr20det or rb25det

I don't get the joke,
I vote for RB25, I find it pointless wapping out a 4cyl for another 4cyl even if gas costed 5 bucks a gallon.

Re: Poll: s14 sr20det or rb25det

i am also having the same dilemma of which motor to choose, i do agree with sho, swapping a 4 for a for Is kinda pointless, i would go with the rb25 but you have to buy so much other shit to make it fit, go to mckinney motor sports if you wanna know all of the stuff you need to swap a rb25.

Red face Re: Poll: s14 sr20det or rb25det

Tim Red knows what hes talking about go with the B16!!!! On the real Tim if I may call you Tim, dont go with what people say. Both motors are great (SR20/RB25) Just go with what you like and your "Budget" It might be pointless it may not be. Its all about what you want doo not what other people want. If you want to be practical look up all the pro's and con's for each motor your thinking about getting than compile all the shit you get and make your mind up. Dont make any poll threads or anything either because those have been done so many times already. When I first joined there was new stuff popping up(topics, not the same old same old) not anymore! Just as I was beginning to learn too, Duh!

Re: Poll: s14 sr20det or rb25det

i really do not care what anyone thinks about My car, i just cant decide if all the hassle of a rb25 would be worth it or if i should just go the easier route with the sr...... im leaning towards the rb25 because that would just be a kickass engine to have in a 240

Re: Poll: s14 sr20det or rb25det

Go with it. The hassel will always be there but the degree of it will be diff for each engine. Cuz even if you bolt an sr up you still gotta get it running in your car correct?

Re: Poll: s14 sr20det or rb25det

well since my mind is made up on the RB25, i have looked at flashoptions.com, but i have heard real bad things, but i have also have heard the guy causing all of the diffiuculties is now gone, they have been the cheapest i have seen, and i e-mail them and they promptly responded, with the engine comes with the tranny and wiring harness, also that 45-65 day shipping would be 450USD, anyone know anything about them? good or bad

Re: Poll: s14 sr20det or rb25det

Listen folks, the differences in the swap and hard ships of the swaps lay in the fitment issues, after that, the rest of the work is the same shit.
First, you'll have to fit the SR/RB into your 240, I posted a link earlier in this post "RB25 swap guide", these guys took the guess work out of it. After the engine is in, the rest is the same shit, You'll have to use the SR ECU and harness, so will the RB, I've done a harness swap on my 240SHO project and for the hassle I had to go through to get it in, and after realizing this what I would have had to do anyway to swap in an SR, thank God I opted for a larger engine, a V6, but I'm like damn, I should have put a V8 in this bitch if I've got to go through this shit anyway.
But you see my point, unless you got tons of cash to pay someone to clibrate the ECU and harness of the 240 to run the SR, you've got to do this. So the only diff and where the savings com up, is in fitment issues, and parts cost. Most folks who get tired of their SR swap end up having to sale their 240 for a BIG LOSS cuz, after paying for that swap, it is dumb to have it removed to get a RB swapped in. that is why you see many SR 240s on sale on e-bay, an RB can be taken all the way to even 900hp so the cap is not in the motor but in your wallet.

And yeah I got the #2 part of the joke, I didn't see how it applied to any of his statement, I guess I'm slow or something.
