Do a.m. intakes bypass the PAIR valve? (KA24E)
So we got our free car and I've just been messin' around with the motor a little. This is the first time I've gotten to play with a single cam KA woot! hehe. But anyway, I was considering building a Home Depot style intake just to experiment a little with some things. We are just using this car as an in between experimental type of job while our cars are undriveable, so we want to spend as little money as possible. So my question is, on the KA24E there's a hose going from the airbox to the PAIR Valve. I imagine an aftermarket intake filter would not allow for this to be there, since the box no longer exists. So what do most people do? Just remove it? I read about it (the PAIR), and apparently it's only there to lower hydrocarbons in the early model KA's due to a design flaw, and bad placement of the fuel injectors. It says you can remove it with no ill effects except raising exhaust emissions (most likely to the point of inspection failure, but that's no big deal). So is that what most people do? Thanks yall.

Re: Do a.m. intakes bypass the PAIR valve? (KA24E)
on the maf adapter there is a joint where it will attach that PAIR hose to the intake. Since the airbox is gone and the filter is the replacement, the filter has to attach to the MAFS some how so you need the adapter and since the PAIR needs to be attached to be carb legal and pass emission, they made an opening where you would attach the hose, most likely have to get a longer hose though to reach the intake.
