Changed intake gasket, now there's power loss

I just changed the intake gasket and the valve cover gaskets on my truck. I checked it all over and there are no leaks. I checked my timing with the chilton's book and it was on. Then when i started it up it seemed to idle fine. I backed out of the driveway fine. Then when i shifted into overdrive it was really doggy and taking a long time to shift(2nd gear at 30mph). I also noted my oil pressure was fluctuating rapidly. I checked all my fluids and they were fine. I have an exaust leak at the manifold though. It was there before but it seems to be much louder after i replaced the gasket, could this be the problem, sombody help me..

also, is there anyway to fix a cracked manifold inexpensivly. It's a hairline crack that's not leaking any exaust...yet

Re: Changed intake gasket, now there's power loss

Did you disable the brown/black wire for your electronic timing before you set the timing?

As for your lazy shifting...check to make sure that all your cables are connected properly.

Also make sure that the distributor is set all the way down, and the gasket ring is tight against the intake.

Dont take offence if I mention any basics, because I have no clue of your mechanical knowledge, I'm just trying to help

Use of nickel rod is quite common on cast. You will need a second person to preheat prior to welding and as soon as you are done, they need to post heat. The best way of cooling it down is to put it in a bucket of sand and let it cool SLOWLY.

You did not mention what year truck. Is there a vacuum modulator and is it hooked up?

It's a 93. I fixed the power loss, i had to advance the timing to 4 degrees but my specs said to do it to 0. As for a vacuum modulator I have no idea

I believe you have a 4L60. In any event, the transmission is shifted electronically. When you had the intake off, you didn't damage the TPS?
Also, the VSS on the transmission monitors the speed. I believe the connector comes up the fire wall on the passenger side. Check it.
