Can idle speed be adjusted?

I’m still working on getting the 91 Corsica 4 cyl. running a little smoother. At a stop light the engine shakes the car while setting in drive with the break on. The steering wheel shakes. In older cars it would be easily remedied by adjusting to the idle speed slightly until the shake stops by turning a screw on the throttle linkage. Is this still possible on the Corsica? Can the idle speed be increased by the turn of a set screw somewhere?

Try runnin a can of seafoam in the intake through a vacuum line. You can get it at Napa and some Advance stores. Stuff works wonders. Also, how long has it been since it had a tune up?

Re: Can idle speed be adjusted?

check the throttle stop bracket and see if it's bent in just slightly, allowing the throttle to return too far.

That thing is tough, its kinda hard for it to bend itself.

Re: Can idle speed be adjusted?

I've seen the little tang that hits the stop get slightly bent on high mileage examples. .005" off is enough to mess up base idle. Also check for wear at that point, as that could cause the same problem. There is a set screw covered by a cap (to keep you from adusting it) that the throttle hits, but they suggest not messing with it.
