Miata noo-b

Hey how's it going people? Well my 92 civic hatchback was stolen from me a few days ago and im not keeping my hopes up about getting it back because its probably in mexico by now (i live in San Diego). Anyway im looking for a new car and my price range is about $5000 or less. I kinda want to get a miata because i like small cars and i dont feel like buying an old school mini cooper, plus miatas look really fun to drive. Anyone got any reccomendations on what year or engine type would be best for my budget? Any input would be great, thanks.

I'm looking at buying a Miata, too. I'm having to give up my beloved RSX due to change in financial situation. A used Miata is the only car I could trade for that would console me in my loss.

I found a 1999 silver/black with only 17,000 miles. It seems to be in great condition... except... I had my car fanatic brother look at it and he found oil all over the bottom of the front cross member. The car was pristine clean everywhere else.

So, I took it back to the dealership and told them it must have an oil leak and I'd need to know the origin and be assured that it was fixed. Now, they're saying they've looked at it and there's no leak... just oil splashed when they changed it. My BS meter's going off, but I hate to let what looks like a great deal get by me.

What do you guys think?

If you want to modify, then a 96 or 97 is the best way to go.They both have 1.8 liter engines and there are a ton of parts(body and mechanical) out ther for them.

You should also head to www.miataforum.com, there is a gang of info on that site

What are you smoking? The best year to get is the 95, no OBDII and better Torsen rear end. Best place to learn is on www.miata.net You can browse the classifieds and read the forums, pay close attention to the power section of the forum if you want to learn a few things.
