Porting, and head stuff

Still working on it.

This was bad, real bad.

Every runner was like this.

The exaust really need some work.

Close look at the intake port.

After I clean one up, still had a little more work to do.

You can see where I shaved down the threads on the screws. All will be done, of course.

Hey R33,

Long time, no talk

Its a RB26. My plans are to increase torque, use stock everything, and spend as little as possible

I blew up my Mustang engine, so I need money for that build now. Cars are truely the never ending story

Hey man, how hv u been?

I am okay. Just busy with works and then with the annual endurance race. Was in 7th overall (out of 77 cars) and chasing podium in my class when the Evo's rear diff broke!

Got good and bad news. The good news is that I am now looking for a GTR, either already race prepped or otherwise for next year. The bad one is that I am now selling my 33 , all lock stock and barrel. It's been 4 years and it has given me a lot of pleassure (and sometime little heartaches). I will miss that car. But the proceeds will now go to a properly prepped GTR which I am sure will also give me endless pleasure. The way i think is that firstly, I don't really push my current GTR on the street anyway. And secondly, of course, I need the proceeds to purchase the prepped GTR.

My aim is that within the next year and a half or so, God willing, if I have enough money, I will be out buying another Japanese street monster!

Yup, cars are the truly never ending story! Aren't we all blessed?

Sounds like you are planning on becoming the Nigel Mansel(sp) I wish I could afford to do that.

Hey, you need a pit crew member look me up

7th, to me that is pretty darn good. How far behind the podium were you in time?

So, your dropping the EVO for a GTR? I love both of them.

I have my fingers crossed for ya, mate.

Tony

How much for the Red Beast, any pics of late? I still love that car.

Do you think it was det?

I would be inclined to think it was a spark plug wanting to play with top of the piston

Sure will on the pics Yep on the porting, I have done a few sets of V8 heads with good results, so I figure what the , I'll give it a shot.

Well I am sure that block will turn up dandy Sky! )) Keep us posted.

Racing is an addiction my friend! It is close to becoming an obsession! We started 12th overall on the grid and after about 6.5 hours we had completed 135 laps. In our class A, the Honda factory team was then leading (1st and 2nd place) while the 3rd and 4th places were between us and the Lotus Exige team. Our pit stop was much faster than both the Honda and Lotus teams and we figured that we might just clinch podium.
Then, BAAAAM!! I was driving and I was kissing a GT3's ass round a corner and it went BAAAAM! The whole car shook and I klinked klanked my way back to the pit. The rear diff broke!
The Honda finally became overall champion (even topping the open class!) with 260 laps! If you see our 135 laps after about 6.5 hours, we would have been around 260-270 laps after 12 hours! That means podium!

Anyway, next year will be great! We had an ex F1 mechanic as chief crew and a Australian friend (a mathematician) flew from Thailand to be our race director. Both of them are just amazing.
You becoming my crew? Hey, you are always welcome. Perhaps we could make some arrangement next year huh? That will be great man...

that first pic that is definatly detonation. you should consider to use a higher piston. the air in the squish area don't have the time to get out of there and it will explode.
And what are you running on. pure oil or what. it looks a little wet. and the dark color can be said to be good.

And then the exhaust ports...what you threw in there. some nails or what?

pic5. what happend with the right port. a leak in the sealings or what. the left looks good in my opinion.

please keep us informed of the progress. (lots of pics are appreciated.)

Re: Porting, and head stuff

Hey Derby,

This is an engine I bought second hand, so I could tear it down, and have some fun.

Pic 5, the left port is the one I was working on, the right one has been untouched.

Lots a pics, not a problem.

Tony

Hé how ya doing these days?

What are the goals? just to learn a lot or do you want a high performance spare engine?

Pic say a lot more then words you know. And is it nice to see the effects of things that went wrong during when the engine was running.

I wish you lots of success

Derby

Goals, shooting for better engine response, lower the power band. I have some ideas that goes against the grain of thought when building an RB26.
