Have you went to college/what is your major?

I'm right now reading about a community college since I'm a senior at my high school and it just hit me to ask you guys what you may be doing later in life. I'm going to try to get my A.A.S. in Mechanical Design Technology. My whole goal is to become a certified Architect. Big money making business.

So who here is going to go to college, is in college, or is done with college and what are your plans?

I graduated from PICA, or Pennsylvania Institute of Culinary Arts, with a Ass. degree in Technical Sciences. My goal is to work my way to executive chef and perhaps some day far in the future own a few of my own places.

Hey thats what i wanna do. I hear takin class for Architect is hard as hell! I'm still gonna give it a shot though. I never did too bad in drafting...so..?
I'm gonna be attending Scottsdale community college for 3 years and then transfer to Arizona State University to finish the remaining 2 years. Its 5 five yrs. to get your masters.

My father was a licensed arcitech, but he never did anything with it, insted he opened a restarant, then it grew to like 6 restarants, then he didnt pay taxes and got it all taken away along with his house. Started at the bottom again and had another susessfull restarant, but it was never the same again. Moral of the day... either use your license as an arcitech or pay your taxes.

What da know....... Your the first person I've heard of that wants to do the same thing. Yeah your right though, It's a hard subject to tackle. Math is the major role in it.

I'm actually in my last year of drafting at a local technical school. The nice thing is that my credits that I earned from my technical school (massanutten technical center) is transferred to Blue Ridge Community college. Thus, less classes to take.

When are you going to attend Scottsdale? And up here it's 6 yrs to get my masters.

speaking of culinary arts and stuff about cooking......my friend's bro who's only 22 has been a chef for a few restaurants in our area and he makes so much money, its crazy.

oh yea, and shaguar, i'm a senior in my high school too. i'm probably going to go into computer engineering. its everything about computers about software (programming, design) and hardware (production of microchips, repair). its pretty sweet and is totally useful in this world. like if one field of computers goes down, i'll be positive that i could find a really high paying job with the other field. i'll probably minor in webpage design, too. www.vladlos.com - my site right now...soon a brand new better site will be up, maybe within a month.

Yeah you can make some decent money in the culinary business... but damn can it be hard and stressfull.. you are the busiest when every one else is off... and damn is it hard to maintain relationships too... something about working 12-16 hour days all of the time... there is something like a 80 percent divorce rate among chefs haha.

The other part of it is that most of the time the only thing to do after you get off of work is to go out to the bars, since they are the only thing still open and that results in a lot of drunks heh.

All in all I do enjoy what i do though, most of the time.

I'm a senior in High School too and don't know what the fuck im majoring in. I am really good at math though, that is the one thing that comes easy to me.

well i passed my GCSE exams at 16 left school and went to college for 2 years whilt working 35 hours a week. i just done a Business Admin Course , NEVER again......wankers

...getting your degree in architecture is a bitch.. its a hell of alot of work... depending on the school you go to, its not necessarily math intensive..

and if your'e becoming an architect to because you think they make alot of money...dont... b/c they dont at all..trust me.

I think it depends who you work for.

that's a little bit of it.. but your'e not going to be pulling too much money in for at least 10 years of your career..I mean, the money's not horrible.. but when you look back at how hard you worked for 5-6 years of school (which is the minimum for a bachelors of architecture)..the money sucks especially when your IT friends did shit in school and are pullin in $$ right outta school
