Question Two engine questions

Ok heres the deal. I have a D16Y8 block bored .20, 10.5 :1 c/r srp's, port and polished Y8 head, intake, full manifold back 2.5" exhaust. Around what HP output should I be looking at?

Also I have a set of stock 91 Si injectors and a set of blue top 450cc DSM's, which should I put in?

Re: Two engine questions

You dont need the dsm injectors. Keep the SI. I would say.... 125-130 whp? Take it to the dyno. Im sure you'll see it around there.

hp

theres no way to be exact(except dyno)
but I was giving it some thought & I think you'll push around 130-140 bhp
maybe more, but I dont wanna go too far!
& I see that block is bored over .20,that means your pistons will be bored over too, pushing more compression, resulting in more bhp,
& I dont know what the blue top injectors are,but they sound like the ones thats bigger then stock injectors & I've always heard if your running stock(no turbo/no supercharger),then run stock,
but you could gain way more hp if you could shave that head before you put it together(if you already haven't),cost like 30$ cleaned & shaved,
but make shore you know what timing to put it at if you was to shave the head,
but the hp guess was what I think you would be pushing,
I'm not forshore...

but its a nice setup,

If its base horsepower...it should be a little bit more 140. I dont think hes gonna see that at the wheels with those mods.

& about the head...
(umm yea,)
Have you ever even heard about shaving your head???
if you have, then you should know that milling the head from at least a .20 mm can compress twice the amount of air/fuel then a stock head,
meaning moreeee horsseepowwer!,
but you gotta use 89 octane or more

other forum::If you go with a mild cam, and a slight cut off the head, it shouldn't need more
than mid-grade. Not too much to pay for a 25+hp improvement...

Whoa easy on the name callings. The reason i quote you the shaved head cause you said he'll gain "WAY MORE" hp. Its not gonna make too much of a difference! I also quoted you on the 140 BASE hp is because if its around 125-130 AT THE WHEELS then u add 15-18 PERCENT to whatever power he has at the wheels which i'm pretty sure its around 125-130 whp! So lets say if hes put'n out 130 to the wheels plus 18 percent. THats WAY MORE than 140...its about 153 BHP.

(25 hp is not too much of a difference??)

2 exact cars:exact same mods:1 w/shaved head,who wins?
the guy w/25 extra hp!

(didnt mean the name calling in anyway of disrespecting you,
just was making a statement from the knowledge of another!)

Re: Two engine questions

ok its NOT GONNA give you 25hp! All it does is bump up the compression ( depending how much you mill the head.).

Correct!
the "25hp" gain was supposed to be w/the mild cam,
milling a head can increase horsepower/compression,maybe its not much, but its worth doing for 30$ before the heads installed, for that extra little boost some others dont have!

Re: Two engine questions

milling the head .20mm wont double the compression. infact that small wont do shit, thats one fifth of a mm.

and mellow, BHP means brake hp, english term for wheel hp.

Re: Two engine questions

I could've sworn it meant base horsepower.

Anyways even with the aftermarket cam...its not gonna see 25whp.
