Re: 944 vs crx

I don't think the CRX makes 130 hp. Even if it did, comparing an entry level Honda to a Porsche is absolutely ridiculous.

exactly, no crx ive heard of makes 130 hp stock and you would have to spend that 2k on aftermarket parts to do so. plus you will get a lot more respect and looks if youre driving a porsche

I say find something else. The CRX is too played out, and the 944 shouldnt even be considered a porsche.

Re: 944 vs crx

crx is allot lighter and can handle very very well especialy for a FWD vehicle(im currently interested in an 88 si for STS2/CSP). 944 weighs about 2800lb's which is a good bit more.
I would be warey about a sub 2k 944 though. A cheap porsche can easily get expencive if the pervious owner didnt keep up with mainence.

cheaper easier fun would go to the crx. Cheap parts, good gas milage, cheap parts, huge aftermarket.
Porsche would just be fricking cool and fun to own but I wouldnt look at it as a budget vehicle.

But all in all, I woudl rather have a 944 then a CRX.

Re: 944 vs crx

"Porsche" and "inexpensive" are mutually exclusive terms.

If you have a 2k budget for the car, go with the CRX. I've owned 2 944's (still own one, needs engine) and though they are quicker, more reliable, and more fun to drive, maintenance is a lot more. I had my street 944 for 2 years, and only had two major problems with it. Head gasket ($900 to have fixed) and clutch ($800 to have fixed). The car was high mileage, so neither of these came as a complete surprise, but I eventually traded it in for a 1999 Subaru 2.5RS because it was starting to have little annoying electrical problems that I was becoming wary of.

The 944 track car I still have has sat because I determined it was less expensive in the long run to build a Miata as a track car than fix the 944. The 944 is a better overall car, but the CRX is a better value in the long run.

Re: 944 vs crx

Well, there's no way the Honda can compare to the Porsche performance-wise, but it is the better budget vehicle, no doubt.

No such thing as a 911 TT Carrera...the Carrera generally is the NA version and the 911 Turbo is obviously the forced induction version.

An SiR CRX would quite easily out perform a 944.
And would be a hell of a lot more reliable.
