Okay I have some questions... Maybe someone can help (modifying:P)
Alright, Heres the Deal I own a '79 Sedan 425 Carbeurated... 120k on the ODO (well 20... its rolled over:P) Very few accesories seem to want to work (no AC/heat/nowindshield washer/no door lights)
Seats, windows, trunk and wipers are about it. The car runs pretty well, (Loses traction like a b****), suspension has never been replaced and not much service wise I don't think. New differential. First question... Are the headlights supposed to be that dim? cause they're virtually useless at night, I'm having to run with high beams alot. It's not the bulbs I've replaces them, any other ideas? Well anyhow I'd like to fix it up, and pep it up, Especially some torque upgrades (320 ft/lbs doesnt cut it for me :P) I'd also like to draw a few more horses out from her, In my opinion the 180 should be able to go a bit higher. What would be some Ideas for increasing power and torque? I'm going to get a custom exhaust made, cause I want a deeper sound and since the car is over 25 yrs old I no longer need emissions. So can anyone help me please? I'd Like a supercharger for it... I just don't think I can find one... Anyhow let's hear some ideas please? Also some Ideas for trickin it out :P Thanks

I'd look at your alternator as a cause for dim headlights. Check the main lead coming off the back of the alternator and going to the positive side of the battery. Also check your engine to body grounds (where ever they are).
As far as extra power goes... http://www.500cid.com/ You know a 425, 472 and 500 are all the same block externally right? You could change the engine and gain 75 cubes and still have essentailly the same engine externally. There are all kinds of changes you can do and most involve changing the cam out. You can also put headers on it. 425's aren't bad, but why not have the extra 75 cubes for almost the same weight? |

I'm just to lazy to swap the engine out, And I need to get another car before I do that, as currently It's my only running car....
But I'd definately prefer the 500. Thanks for the Help+Info

Dim headlights usually means bad grounds. Check the body to engine ground wire.
