Moisture in Headlights, i give up..

2 days ago, i spent over 2 hours on my 95 thunderbirds headlights.. Between taking the whole headlight's off, cleaning them out inside (small tower attached to a hanger to remove water) to COMPLETELY sealing the entire assembly with goop plumbers silicone-not ordinary silicone, this goop stuff turns much harder than regular silicone. I went over it twice-to make sure to seal any air bubbles, AND i sealed a little 1/16th inch hole i made months ago to drain the water that accumulates over time. How the hell is this moisture getting in?? The actual bulbs are nice and tightly pushed in-with a good seal to.. I think i just gotta live with it..

At least my headlights look brand new, took off ALL that ugly yellow oxidation crap with 800/1200/1600 grits, then buffed it shiney with a drill and some mothers plastic polish..

Solaris, unplug that drain hole in the bottom. Its not a drain hole, its a vent.
Many Ford headlights have a vent top and bottom. The heat from the headlight causes air to warm up. Warm air rises and it will emerge from the top vent. (This top vent should have a tiny rubber hose on it, turned downwards. )
Cooler air is gradually sucked in the hole in the bottom, so the air circulates and any stray moisture is removed.
Lots of Fords are like this, lots of GM and other cars seem to have sealed headlights with no vents at all.

you can always do it the ghetto way, tie a string to a sodium bicarbonate packet and put the packet in the housing over night. It should absorb the moisture and make it dry inside. You can get these from some dry food packages. they're usually white with blue warning labels: do not eat.

Thanks for the tips guys.. The headlights have no drain plug or vents-like my buds maxima. I'm just gonna re-open the small holes i made to get some air in there when i drive.. PS today i noticed someone swiped my front bumper.. It had to happen in the home depot lot last nite. It's a good 4inch section scraped right to the ugly yellow plastic damn it.
