B16 Swap

Yeah, 1987 CRX....CARB engine. I want a B16 OR B18 swap. I need a step by step walk through. anyone have the experience and time to explain to a beginer? Can i buy all the vacumes and shit at pep boys or kragen or auto shops like that or am i gonna have to special order all this shit? How do i fab. the mounts? What kind of engine can i run underneath w/o fab. any mounts? OTHER than the stock D15, yes, it came with a d15 but the guy dropped in a carb. Dumbass.....Will i have to buy a different intake to fit?

Re: D16 Swap

well don't talk ecu codes to me either, it's all gibberish in my head. i've got an 83 civic and i think in terms of carburetors. if you're a bit of a noob an engine swap is a great learning experience that will undoubtedly have it's frustrating moments but after you're done (assuming you survive) you'll have a lot more confidence looking under the hood. as for a step by step guide, this article makes things pretty simple as far as understanding what they're saying goes. the reason why the d16 is easier than the d18 is that the d18 has the newer mounting set up, the d16 is the only d-series motor with the older mounting set up. when you talk about vacuum lines i can only assume that you have a carb car, if that is the case it will make the swap a little more difficult and you will probably have to search around redpepperracing.com to find out what you will have to do specifically to upgrade the fuel system for a fuel injected engine.

Re: D16 Swap

what you need is a parts car to pull everything you need off of. and to use the search function at rpr.com
