1985 Wont Start

1985 vette with 4 speed and have replaced the ignition mechanism in steering column and neutral safety switch and still no power to the starter. I have power from battery to the ignition switch, but no turn at the starter. Could it be the factory alarm system and how do you get it to start from here? E-mail at [email protected] or post reply thanks.

reason for replacing all those things? was the problem there before?

are there fusible links on the starter wires?

by "no power to the starter" i'll presume you had a meter hooked up and it showed no voltage...right?

Re: 1985 Wont Start

I would guess the VATS system is being triggered. Does your security light flash when you turn the ignition on? If so, your ignition switch needs changed. You can check this out by reading the resistance on the wires that go down under the dash to the "plug" that leads to the BCM. The resistance should read the same as your key's black chip. Here's some info on this system
