then you've obviously never seen a well rounded 3-way setup. i highly doubt he's running a set of 6 1/2 comps with 3000 watt sub stage or that would sound like complete shit

ok, well if the only thing you can hear is bass, that means the system sucks and will sound horrible. it doesn't matter if the bass is clear and crisp if thats the only thing you hear. IMO 3000 watts is too much because sub-bass shouldn't really be heard but felt, and it should be very subtle. about 90% of the "bass" in music is mid-bass, with the low-end rumble from the subs.

going active on a three-way setup will easily take up alot of power: 200-250 per midbass, 100-150 on mids, and 75-100 on tweets.

Re: will i need a bigger alternator?

ahh, makes sense. ive never heard a 3000 watt sub stage accept compitetion set-ups which is ALL bass anyway. seems pretty rediculous.....

the power the sub needs bepends on the sub (of course) .... when I get around to redoing the crx, I probably put one 15" brahma back there with appx 1500 watts.
