Re: no power to fuel pump

Check the fuel pump relay on the firewall.

Do you get the two seconds of hmming when you put the key to the ON position just before start?

Check fuses and could possibly be the crash switch needs to be reset.

Re: no power to fuel pump

Since when did GM start using crash switches? I haven't see one yet. Any further info would be appreciated, always willing to learn.

Fuel pump not getting power.

Just went through this with my 01 Crewcab 4x4. I pulled the bed for easier access. In pulling the bed I disconnected a ground on the left
rear frame rail under the bed to disconnect the ground for the bed. This is also the ground for the fuel pump (Two different wires under the same bolt). My fuel gage worked, but not the pump, until I reconnected the ground. I was checking the connector for 12 volts using the ground in the connector but was getting 0 volts because the ground was off. Don't know if 96 is the same but its worth checking.

Re: no power to fuel pump

There is a fuel pump test wire on the fire wall (tan in color it is tucked away and not connected to anything.
Put 12 volts to it and see if the fuel pump runs if it does not run
It is a bad pump or a bad connector where the pump wires connect to the main wires back at the fuel tank. Have see a lot of the going bad

Re: no power to fuel pump

the easiest way to determine if the pump works is to jump terminals 30 and 87 or 30 and 87a on the fuel pump relay. this will tell you if the relay is bad if you here the pump running. make sure you use a fused jumper wire. you dont want to create more problems.
