List the Causes!!!

If you guys could list the most probable problem with an engine blowing smoke I'd be most appreciative, What the probability of it being the head gasket? Let me know and post up.

Whitetish/Blue smoke=burning oil. This usually means the rings are blown or the valve guides are worn.

Heavy white smoke with a coolant smell= blown head gasket

Black smoke usually indicates you are running heavily rich.

What color smoke? (white, grey, blueish, brown, black)
When? (startup, off-idle, acceleration, deceleration, WOT, low rpm, high rpm)

That don't sound good.

Sounds like a blown head gasket, or maybe even worse, a cracked head or block. *ouch*

Did it happen suddenly, or has it been increasing over time?

Best bet for something like this -> take it to a pro.
Bummer!

PS> Q. What does coolant smell like? A. Open your radiator overflow tank and give it a sniff.

Same thing happened in my 4th gen but it was the rings that were gone. Forget wasting money on fixing it, we dropped in a JDM 91 Crx engine instead

Head gasket for sure (unless it isnt ). I've also had it happen when I got a hairline crack across the head. Fortunately it was a 2G head on a hybrid 1G block so replacement was cheap
