When upgrading an engine from 4cyl to 6cyl in a 5 spd 4runner are there any other modifications that I would have to do? thanks

Re: 4runner engine replacement 4cyl to 6cyl

Yes, it can be done, but it is really time consuming and expensive. You will need the complete motor and tranny as well as the ECU, wiring harness etc. I would also recommend going to a late-model 3.4L because it has much more power and efficiency than the 3.0 which is barely better than a 2.4 in the first place. Click the link in my sig to the '89 4Runner 3.4L swap, that will guide you in the right direction. Also see my post in the thread titled "v6 in '88 4Runner" or something like that.
