Interior Power

How do you get the cigarette lighter out of the 1g console?? I need to find the power wire so i can put my interior neons in, and run my battery and other gauges. I was told before to find the hole that already exists in the firewall, but i still don't see how i can get any wires through there, just getting my hand down there is hard enough. Any help with a way to get power to my interior would be appreciated. I would also need to find a place to run gauges though too.

Re: Interior Power

You can use any power wire. No need to goto the battery.

okay, now that i know that, where would a very accessable power wire be? I look under my dash, and see alot of wires, could i just take the little lights(that go on woth your door open), and splice into there? Also, where would the easiest spot to run a wire to be able to hook up my gauges.

Re: Interior Power

For your gauges goto Vince's cardomain site and look at the pic he has there. That will be the best, and it will let your gauges turn on when your parking lights are on.

For all the other neons, I used things called add-a-circuit they let you tap into the fuse box. I got them for free, but i think they cost like $8 each. So that might be expensive. You can just tap into any switchable power source, anything that gives 12v when the car is on. Then you can hook up a switch and you can turn them on when you want. Make sure you put a 10 amp fuse before the switch, closer to the power source the better.

okay, thanks, one last question, where is the cigarette lighter wire?? I would rather use that, but since the lighter is pretty much one peice with the center console, i would need to find the wire farther up toward the radio, wouldn't i?

Re: Interior Power

Dont pry it off, open the side panel and you will see the wire right there.
