Question audio systems and sound

k, i've got a 98 z24, and the back 6x9 speaker was blown. so i changed them with a pair of pioneer 6960R speakers... comparing the new sound from the back, the front 4x6 factory speakers don't sound so great so i was thinkin of replacing them too...anyway my question is..i'm running them just off the factory cd deck and i'm curious if changing the deck to a better quality deck can also cause the speakers to sound better? ....thanks

yeah .. for sure, with a high qaulity deck you can adjust tone alot better than with a factory unit, also with aftermartket speakers, a aftermarket stereo will have higher power output than your current stereo... more power= clear signal at lower decibel levels. I suggest you look at pioneer, alpine, clarion.. they are qaulity proven products.

I agree about getting a new deck. I have a 2000 Cavalier and bought an Eclipse deck ($500). I then blew my factory speakers because of the power being produced by my deck, so I purchased 4 new Alpine Type R speakers. It sounds so much clearer and not so fuzzy ans scratchy. Becuase all the factory speakers are is paper material. After that I went ahead and purchased some subs and am amp. Nothing to speacial or high quality. Just a pair of 12" Alpine Type S and a 1000 watt Diamond Audio amplifier.

The upgrade to an aftermarket head unit will definately do a world of good for your car's sound. Just make sure you look for the specific stats (pre-amp outputs, power, etc.) If you plan on building a system I reccomend you get a unit with 3 pre-amp outputs. This will allow you to adjust a third (set of audio devices ie. subs) without altering the sound of the other speakers.
