Z31 Winter/Project Car???
ok guys...i just got this crazy idea to be 1 of a few people to do the RB20det swap into a z31. i think it was 1viadrift who directed us to a website that discussed the JDM 200zr.
well anyways, i need a winter car beings my first project is my z32. so, i need to know, beings the z31 n/a does not have LSD nor as much power as a z32, will it be able to be driven in the winter? i dont expect to travel through 6 inches of snow or anything but maybe a light snow covering? also, has anyone had problems starting there z31 in cold weather? a good set of snow tires i know would be my first investment. ok the plan is to have a z32TT making 1/4 passes at about mid -low 12's and a z31 having enough power to be a well balanced drift machine? z32 winter project and the z31 would be my summer project. any suggestions or comments?

Well, from what I know about the Z31, and my experience driving it, there great drifters, My first night in mine, I shifted down into second, and ended up facing the wrong way taking a right hand turn... but it had been raining out. I think the best thing Iv heard about them/experienced, They really are easy to control in bad weather, and any kind of losing traction and all can be pretty easily regained if you want to, I would drive mine in snow, I think it will be able to take it just fine.
But it does seem to be a cold natured car, get it warmed up and you seem to be set for the day, I dont know what it will be like with freezing cold temperatures, but So far, it starts up pretty good, just sometimes have to give it a second crank. |

yeah thats what i was wandering because my z32 n/a does not want to start at all if the tempererature is below 30 degrees. but then again i still think something is wrong with it.

Re: Z31 Winter/Project Car???
that's why we have block heaters up here in canada... keep it plugged in overnight and your oil is nice and liquidy when you go to start your car up in the morning... gets everything warmed up nice and quick.. and i'll be driving my Z in winter.. got a set of winters with the car so i'm good go f'n go!
on a side note.. a buddy and i have been working on this old 86 acura ledgend for a month or so and tonight we got all our stuff back together and put everything on and stuff and it ran!! we were sooo freakin stoked.. we were yellin and runnin around at like 1 at night.. probably woke up all the neighbours.. but it was pretty sweet... first time i've ever worked on a broken down car and it started right up after we put it all back together.... WOOOOOOHHHH.... ok it's out of my system now
