No low beam headlights but DRLs are OK
'99 Suburban. DRLs work just fine when the engine is started, but if the headlight switch is turned on, the low beam lights do not illuminate. Toggle the turn signal arm and the high beams work just fine - toggle it again (for low beams) and I get no headlights at all. If I turn off the headlights, the DRLs illuminate just like they should. After checkings fuzes and relays, I can only assume that it must be the low/high beam switch - does anyone disagree? Also, can I assume that the switch is part of the turn signal arm and is there anyway to replace it without removing the airbag/steering wheel - or is this a job for the dealership? Any ideas/help will be greatly appreciated.

low beams
The switch is probably bad as you suspect. It isn't that hard to replace. I am getting ready to replace mine. Can get by in the meantime using the daytime running lights and the parking lights. A way to test if it is your switch. turn low beams on, then move steering wheel up and down a few times, actually a lot of times, and see if the lights ever come on, could be bad switch or just a loose connection.
