Thinking about buying a new civic si hatch

Whas up everybody?, I am currently driving a 96 civic hatch(love it) but want something new next spring. Obviously I want to stay with Hondas cause they rock, and can't spend much more than 16k. A friend of mine told me too drive the volkswagen gti 1.8 turbo, but not sure if I trust Volkswagens. Anyway, just wanted your opinions on the 02 or 03 civic si. I like the looks of it (after rims and springs of course) and the price is right. Let me know, and I hope I'm posting this in the right forum. Thanks all......

Re: Thinking about buying a new civic si hatch

only thing i dont like about the 02+ si is the head. they dont come with the real v-tec. still some very nice engines with lots of potential but i think honda should of put the a2 head on them. what improvement are we gona be seeing for 06?

Re: Thinking about buying a new civic si hatch

Word of mouth is suspension upgrades as well as standard k20's in the coupes not sure about the SI yet. No more D series engines FINALLY. Vtec.net always throws gossip around.

Re: Thinking about buying a new civic si hatch

The 2006 models are going to be the most anticipated civic yet. There is so much hype as to whether or not the si will be a hatchback or coupe and the return of the crx. Whatever honda does, it better do right cause sells haven't been so good lately.

And k20's standard in coupes will rock. D's will always stay the absolute best little engine ever made.

Re: Thinking about buying a new civic si hatch

d series are chep reliable and good mileage. idk y honda would get rid of them for somethign that cost moe money. it would eb nice for us power fanatics but not for what most of the public is looking for in civic. well have to see

06 sounds like it could be promising, love the k20's. I really hope they keep the hatch though, love the hatches.

Re: Thinking about buying a new civic si hatch

Honda is dead on set to make the hatch sell better for the '06 models. Whatever they do and it sells better than what the si did, the hatch will be around for a very long time.

Re: Thinking about buying a new civic si hatch

Oh and what I've heard recently is that the civic will move up from being a 4 year remodel date to a 5 year. The design has to last an extra year so it better be good Honda.

Scion and Nissian are both having great sells and Honda hasn't. It's like the crx is a gun that will kill the competetion but they just have to know when they should fire it.

Thats because SCION is something different and unique. Nissan doesn't look bad from the begining. I've seen the crx concept and its really ugly. Kinda looks like an rsx.

Re: Thinking about buying a new civic si hatch

What's wrong with a compact car that has a good price, good peppy engine, less than an rsx but looks similar to one. I certianly would buy one hands down.

Re: Thinking about buying a new civic si hatch

If you're a crx fan...then you would understand 2nd gen crx really made a change. Back in the day they sold left and right and i believe the '91 was the motor trend car of the year? Well anyways its gonna be hard to adapt to the "new crx" reguardless on how good the price is. The fact is with most crx fans...they would love the looks...not the motor. IMO i dont think the new looks is very appealing to me.

Well, I don't know about the CRX coming back because the Del-Sol and the S2000 basically took its place. But if they make a new version of the current Si's that would be pretty tight. I would rather see two versions of the Si's though, the coupe model, and the hatchback model because so many people like both and Honda would generate better sales if they acomidated to both lovers of the coupe and hatch. I honestly don't think Honda will ever stop making the D-series, after all, the D-series is what made honda so popular in the first place. Hopefully the K20's in the '06 Si's will live up to the ones in the RSX's.
