Intake and Header

I have a 92 Accord LX coupe, and I want to put an intake and header on it. Here is my question - do either of these mods decrease the reliability of expected life of the engine or any of its parts? Does the intake allow any extra dust to enter the engine than the stock intake?
Thanks for the help.

Thats why theres a filter on the intake to take care of the dust! It will help your engine breath better, it wont harm it, its not like your sticking a 50 shot of nos to your engine, then your engines life would decrease pretty quick! They are safe mods, go for it!!

id say those would prolong engine life, and possibly even get better gas mileage along with the added hp
